A wildfire, currently burning to the south of Homestead-Miami Speedway in Miami-Dade County, FL., is not currently expected to derail NASCAR’s triple-header race weekend in the coastal area.
This wildfire is a few miles south of the track. It has not impacted preparations for the Homestead race weekend and the schedule is unchanged. @NASCARONFOX https://t.co/rNzhTKayG9

- According to NBC 6 South Florida, the first report of the fire was Monday at 1:17 p.m. Despite the massive plume of smoke generated by the fire, NASCAR has not slowed down its preparations for this weekend.
- Though some fans refer to the track simply as Miami, Homestead-Miami Speedway is located far south of Miami. In reality, the track is actually located in Homestead, FL.
- In the past, NASCAR has postponed and changed event dates due to wildfires. For example, in 1998, the Pepsi 400 at Daytona was moved from its traditional July 4 date to Oct. 17 due to wildfires. However, this was the most drastic of cases.
- The race weekend kicks off with the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Baptist Health 200, which will air on FOX. The Xfinity Series will follow up Saturday afternoon, with the Cup Series capping off the weekend Sunday afternoon.
