What’s Happening?

Lionel Racing, the exclusive producer of NASCAR Diecast, has addressed its recent “halt in pre-order offers.” The pause in these offers, which they refer to as a “temporary measure,” will be in effect “until the current tariff situation settles down.”

  • In their post on X, Lionel clarified that they are continuing to make plans to produce timely creations like race win diecast and new paint schemes. They even featured upcoming offers such as a three-race win diecast from the past month, alongside three recent paint schemes with the caption “coming soon.”
  • Lionel states that they are still “working with race teams to get sales sheets put together, we are still obtaining reference photos and artwork for race-wins and standard cars, and we are still sampling and producing diecast.”
  • Typically, Lionel announces new diecast for pre-order on a frequent basis. However, they have not done so since Apr. 6, when they offered Denny Hamlin’s Race Win Throwback from Darlington. The brand clarified that “The only things currently on hold are new pre-orders and shipping from our factory.”
  • Tariffs have affected Lionel since March, with the brand announcing a 5% tariff surcharge for customers on Mar. 27. Subsequent tariffs on imports from China caused Lionel to send notifications to clients like race teams stating that prices could continue to rise.
