What’s Happening?
Get ready for the next generation of Larsons! On Tuesday night, Owen (10) and Audrey (7) Larson competed toe-to-toe in the BC39 Junior Sprint Cart event at the dirt track at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The race was a 20 laps sprint to the finish. Owen Larson started on the pole in his number 83 winged sprint while Audrey started 13th. Owen led a handful of the opening laps before falling to third. Meanwhile, his sister was able to slip into the 12th position, where she ultimately finished. Owen finished the race in 2nd.
- This race concluded the Battle of the Larsons, which saw Owen and Audrey face off against one another in four races stretched over a six-day span. It kicked off with a handful of races in Sweet Springs, Missouri. It concluded with the BC39 Junior Sprint featured at Indy on Tuesday.
- Owen Larson seems to be on the right path toward a NASCAR career, if he chooses to go that route. And he couldn’t ask for a better coach than his father, 2021 NASCAR Cup Series Champion, Kyle Larson. Audrey impressed, too. At only 7 years old, she was able to finish 12th and gain some oh so valuable experience behind the wheel. She will continue to develop and get better in time.
- Owen is more or less aging out of the Junior Sprint category of USAC following this series of races. It will be interesting to see what the next step in his racing career will look like.
One Proud Papa
Heading into this week’s stretch of races, FOX Sports’ Bob Pockrass caught up with Larson to talk about his kid’s upcoming head-to-head battle. Larson, beaming with pride, talks about Owen’s progression and what it’s like to have two children sparring off against one another on the racetrack. You can watch his comments in the clip below.
