What’s Happening?

Randall Burnett will not return as the Crew Chief of Kyle Busch’s No. 8 team this season following his planned defection to Trackhouse Racing for the 2026 season.

  • Trackhouse Racing announced they had signed Burnett to work with 2026 Rookie of the Year contender Connor Zilisch for the coming season on September 23. This move made the No. 8 team a lame duck pairing for the rest of the season.
  • This season was the third for Busch and Burnett, who stayed with RCR’s No. 8 following the departure of Tyler Reddick, with whom he won three races. Though Busch and Burnett started strong, winning three of the first 15 races of the 2023 season, the two have had a tumultuous time together since that last win.
  • Per Richard Childress Racing, part-time Crew Chief Andy Street will take over duties for the No. 8 team for the final five races of the 2025 season. Street currently serves in a part-time Crew Chief role with RCR, calling the shots in the Xfinity Series with the No. 3/33 and the Cup Series with the team’s No. 33.
  • Street moved into this role this season after several years of success in the NASCAR Xfinity Series with RCR. In four full-time seasons, one with Myatt Snider and three with Austin Hill, Street and his drivers won 11 races and finished top ten in points each season.
