What’s Happening?

NASCAR Xfinity Series rookie Carson Kvapil is set to make his first NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series start since 2023 with CR7 Motorsports this weekend at Richmond Raceway.

  • The 20-year-old short track ace will pilot the No. 97 truck this weekend alongside teammate Grant Enfinger in the No. 9. Kvapil is not pulling double duty in his usual JR Motorsports this weekend, as the NASCAR Xfinity Series has the weekend off.
  • This will be Kvapil’s second NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series start and his first since racing with Spire Motorsports at Bristol Motor Speedway in 2023. That evening, Kvapil piloted their No. 7 Truck to a 12th-place finish after starting 27th in what was his NASCAR National Series debut.
  • Kvapil, the son of 2003 Craftsman Truck Series Champion Travis Kvapil, currently sits sixth in the NASCAR Xfinity Series standings. Prior to NASCAR, Kvapil honed his skills in JRM’s late model program, winning the 2023 CARS Tour Late Model Stock championship before splitting duties with the Xfinity Series in 2024.
  • The JRM driver, who is rumored, though unconfirmed, to have a deal with Team Penske, has no prior National Series experience at Richmond. He did not compete in last season’s race, and the Xfinity Series did not return for a spring race date at Richmond this season.
