What’s Happening?

In a recent interview, Joey Logano addressed concerns about his teammate Ryan Blaney’s persistent engine troubles this season. In this interview, Logano states that though they are investigating the blown engines, he thinks engine supplier Roush-Yates is yet to have an answer for the now-reoccurring problem.

  • During his appearance on Wednesday’s episode of Behind the Wheel, Logano told SiriusXM NASCAR Radio that the Ford camp is concerned about the recent engine blowups during races. Logano simply stated, “It causes concern, there’s no doubt.”
  • Despite lingering concerns entering this weekend, Logano reassured listeners that Roush-Yates, Ford’s engine supplier, is trying to sort out the issue. However, he’s unsure if they have an answer yet. “They’re [Roush-Yates] trying to figure it all out. And I don’t think they have the ‘for sure’ answer yet, but it’s very important that we come to what exactly happened, right?”
  • This interview was just a few days after Ryan Blaney’s dramatic blowup on the front stretch at Homestead-Miami Speedway. This incident was the second time in three races that Blaney blew an engine late in a race.
  • These late race issues, combined with another slow start to the season for Ford, have resulted in just one win in the three NASCAR National Series and just two drivers in the top ten in Cup Series points. Those in the stands and the garage area will surely be watching the Ford camp this weekend to see if there are any further problems.
