What’s Happening?
In an interesting move, Late Model Chassis builder GMS Race Cars purchased the cars formerly used by the SRX Series, though the company clarified they had not purchased the SRX Series itself.

- In a post to their social media, GMS stated they had acquired “key racing assets” but no “SRX brand, trademarks, or future broadcast rights.” This means that SRX is not back, and the team has simply acquired the cars and maintenance equipment to field the cars for activities such as track days and “customer racing experiences.”
- SRX, or Superstar Racing Experience, was founded in 2020 by Tony Stewart and former NASCAR Cup Series Owner and Crew Chief Ray Evernham. The series raced spec, series-owned cars for all-star drivers, similar to the former IROC Series.
- Though unlike IROC, the majority of these drivers could be considered “legends” with a few appearances from current racing stars. SRX also focused on local short tracks rather than major tracks across the U.S.
- After three seasons of competition, SRX canceled its 2024 season, and, after a sale to Skip Barber Racing fell through in dramatic fashion, the series’ future was up in the air. This release states that Ray Evernham Enterprises still owns the SRX Series assets and most interestingly “future broadcast rights,” but, without the series’ custom-built cars, it seems to have an even more uncertain future.
