What’s Happening?
News out of the Legacy Motor Club shop today! Austin Konenski reported that the full-time spotter for Erik Jones and his number 43 Legacy Motor Club team, Will Rodges, will compete in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race this weekend at Sonoma. He will be driving the number 70 car for Cope Family Racing. And, to make the job-exchange complete, Erik Jones will serve as the team’s spotter.
- Will Rodgers has been racing part-time in NASCAR since the 2019 season. He made his debut in the Xfinity Series at Iowa that season, where he finished 28th. His best finish to date in the Xfinity Series came at Mid-Ohio that same year, where he finished 12th.
- Rodgers has also made a handful of starts in other series, such as the Craftsman Truck Series and the K&N East Series (now the ARCA Menards East Series). Most of his success came in the latter, where he was able to win three races: one at Watkins Glen and two at New Jersey Motorsports Park, going back-to-back in 2017 and 2018, respectively.
- An accomplished road racer, it will be interesting to see how he does in this return behind the wheel. It, by extension, will also be interesting to see how Erik Jones fares in his debut as a NASCAR spotter.
Excited to see @willrodgers65 back at it in the Xfinity series. Hopefully he won't mind me in his ear for this weekend… https://t.co/khZt0EaosG
