No. 11 Yahoo Toyota Camry XSE News and Notes

  • HAMLIN AT NEW HAMPSHIRE: Denny Hamlin’s three NASCAR Cup Series victories and 11 top-five finishes at New Hampshire Motor Speedway are tied for the most among active drivers. He is the outright leader among active drivers with 19 top-10s and a 9.4-average finishing position in 30 career starts at the 1.058-mile track. Last season, Hamlin’s seventh-place result was his fifth consecutive top-10 effort at New Hampshire.
  • IOWA RECAP: Hamlin finished 24th in last weekend’s race at Iowa Speedway after being involved in an accident on lap 219. Prior to the misfortune, the No. 11 team battled through handling issues during stage one. A gutsy call to stay out on a long green-flag run rewarded Hamlin with a sixth-place finish in stage two. However, on the restart to begin the final stage, the No. 11 driver was caught in an accident that damaged his car for the remainder of the race.
  • HISTORY OF THE 11: Throughout NASCAR history, the No. 11 has visited victory lane more than any other car number. Hamlin’s win at Dover Motor Speedway was the 234th time a No. 11 car has won in the Cup Series. For Hamlin, his 54 victories driving the No. 11 are only one behind NASCAR Hall of Famer Cale Yarborough for most on the illustrious list of drivers who have wheeled a No. 11 car to victory lane. That list includes Bobby Allison (3 wins), Mario Andretti (1 win), Buddy Baker (2 wins), Geoffrey Bodine (4 wins), Bill Elliott (6 wins), A.J. Foyt (1 win), Denny Hamlin (54 wins), Ned Jarrett (49 wins), Junior Johnson (11 wins), Parnelli Jones (1 win), Terry Labonte (4 wins), Darrell Waltrip (43 wins), and Cale Yarborough (55 wins).
  • FRONT RUNNER: Hamlin leads the Cup Series in multiple statistical categories according to Loop Data provided by NASCAR. He currently leads the series in fastest drivers late in a run, fastest on restarts, green flag speed, and laps in the top 15. Through 17 races, Hamlin has spent 243 more laps in the top 15 than the next closest competitor.
  • JGR AT NEW HAMPSHIRE: Joe Gibbs Racing owns 13 Cup Series victories at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, including the last two races at the 1.058-mile track by Christopher Bell (2022) and Martin Truex Jr. (2023). JGR drivers have led 469 of 602 total laps (77.9%) and won both races and pole awards in two starts at New Hampshire with the Next Gen racecar. In 140 combined starts at the track, the organization has tallied 51 top-five finishes, 80 top-10s, 10 pole awards, and 3,598 laps led. Bell, Hamlin, and Truex join Kyle Busch, Matt Kenseth, Joey Logano, and Tony Stewart on the list of drivers who have taken JGR to victory lane in New Hampshire.
  • TUNE IN: Coverage of this weekend’s race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway begins Sunday, June 23, at 2:30 p.m. ET on USA Network, PRN Radio, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

How do you approach this weekend at New Hampshire?

“I don’t really know what the new tire will do to the racing. For me, I’ll prepare like I always do. Martin (Truex Jr.) and Christopher (Bell) have been really fast there the last few years, so I will study the data to see what I can do inside the car to improve. I feel like we’ve been good, but not great, there in this car, so we’d definitely like to take that next step and be able to run with those guys because I would expect them to both be very strong this weekend.”
