What’s Happening?
Standout Chevrolet prospect Connor Zilisch made a shocking announcement today at Watkin Glen. The 18-year-old announced that he is the newest Red Bull athlete. But is this Red Bulls route back into NASCAR?
- Trackhouse Racing’s Connor Zilisch is one of NASCAR’s hottest young drivers. The road course racing prodigy has had a stellar year. In 2024, Zilisch won races in the CARS Tour and ARCA Menard Series, along with setting a record pole lap at Circuit of The Americas in his Truck Series debut.
- To top it all off, Zilisch signed a contract to race with JR Motorsports full-time next season in the Xfinity Series. Through a relationship with JRM, Trackhouse Racing is hotshotting the young phenom through the lower levels of NASCAR.
- The announcement of his signing with Red Bull makes Zilisch the second sponsored driver on the NASCAR circuit. Trackhouse Racing teammate Shane Van Gisbergen is a longtime Red Bull athlete, bringing over his support from V8 Supercars.
- Notably, SVG has not had on-car sponsorship from Red Bull. Red Bull has two in-house Formula One teams, and from 2007 to 2011, it fielded a team in NASCAR. The team’s closure was the final time Red Bull sponsored a car in NASCAR.
- While it is unknown if Zilisch will have on-car sponsorship from Red Bull, Zilisch notably has one known sponsor for three races next season, with the potential for rival Monster Energy to have three full-time Cup Series drivers next year. This would be a prime time for Red Bull to return to NASCAR as a sponsor.
