What’s Happening?
Garrett Mitchell, better known by the screen name Cleetus McFarland, has been one of the key storylines of the 2025 NASCAR and ARCA Menards Series seasons. Mitchell currently has three scheduled races for the 2025 season, here’s what you need to know.
- With over 4 million subscribers on YouTube, Garrett Mitchell is by far one of the leaders in online and automotive content creation. However, his switch to part-time stock car racing is a new direction for the content creator.
- Mitchell made his shocking debut after preseason testing an ARCA car, NASCAR’s fourth-tier touring series, at Daytona International Speedway. Though he has a minimal oval racing background, Mitchell has been open about his pursuit of racing the Daytona 500 one day and is starting at the ground floor with the ARCA Menards Series.
- Initially, people just suspected that Mitchell would race at Daytona to get his feet under himself for a future race. Yet, he’s continuing to race throughout the season with Rette Jones Racing’s No. 30 entry. Since Daytona, he has announced two more race dates and could perhaps announce more, as he has hinted at a future in the Xfinity and/or Xruck series.

- Saturday, February 14: Ride the ‘Dente 200 at Daytona International Speedway on FOX – Finish: 30th
- Saturday, April 26: General Tire 200 at Talladega Superspeedway on FS1
- Thursday, September 11: Bush’s Beans 200 at Bristol Motor Speedway on FS1

After initially announcing his pursuit of race at Talladega on the Dale Jr Download in February, Mitchell joined part-time NASCAR driver Corey LaJoie on his podcast Stacking Pennies. During the interview, Mitchell revealed that he has also added the Sept. 11 race at Bristol Motor Speedway to his 2025 schedule. The 30-year-old also spoke about a potential future in the Xfinity and/or truck series and why he is continuing to ease his way through NASCAR.
