UPDATE: Plane Owned by Greg Biffle Crashes in North Carolina
What’s Happening? A private plane, reportedly owned by former NASCAR Cup Series driver Greg Biffle, has crashed near Statesville Regional Airport…
In the aftermath of this tragedy, the NASCAR Community, North Carolinians, and the broader sports world have memorialized Biffle in countless ways.
Sunday, Biffles’ close friend Garrett Mitchell, better known by his screen name Cleetus McFarland, uploaded an over 40-minute tribute to “the Biff.”
The video, the bulk of which consists of clips from Biffle’s many cameos on Mitchell’s YouTube Channel throughout the past calendar year, has since garnered over 1 million views.
Biffle, a veteran of NASCAR for nearly two decades and one of the sport’s 75 Greatest Drivers, played a heavy hand in Mitchell’s uploads this year, specifically those regarding the 30-year-old’s blossoming NASCAR career, which Biffle assisted him in starting.
The two also collaborated on a handful of non-racing videos, including one they had planned to work on this past week.
In the immediate aftermath of Thursday’s plane crash, Mitchell was the one who confirmed in a post to his Facebook account that Biffle, his wife Cristina, their son Ryder, and his daughter Emma were onboard the plane, which was bound for Florida.

In his video tribute to Biffle, McFarland explained that Biffle was heading to Florida to work on yet another non-racing video where the two would exchange “premium” Christmas presents valued at over $10,000.
Though they were unable to finish this project, Mitchell revealed that he partially completed it and that he will upload it “one day.”
Their friendship, of course, went beyond the content they created, and as Mitchell says, while he may not have known Biffle as long as other people, he knew right from the start that the two were “the same person.”
“I didn’t know Greg that long compared to a lot of people, but when we met a year and a half ago, it was obvious that we were the same person. . . Our number one favorite thing was our families, but our other two favorite things were helicopters and Crown Vics, I don’t think I’ve ever met anybody that has those those two things in common with me.” — Garrett Mitchell
Mitchell also took some time to reflect on others lost in the crash, including Biffle’s family and “his right hand guy,” Craig Wadsworth, who was well known around the NASCAR community for his time as a motorhome driver.
In a heartfelt moment, Mitchell closed out the video by confirming that Biffle’s legacy with the Cleetus McFarland YouTube Channel will live on, adding “Be Like Biff” to his video outro alongside his catchphrase “Do it for Dale.”
