What’s Happening?

YouTube star Garrett Mitchell, better known by his screen name Cleetus McFarland, has a new collaboration with R/C leader Horizon Hobby and their brand HobbyZone. The two have teamed up to produce an R/C model of Mitchell’s real-life Carbon Cub plane.

  •  What makes this Carbon Cub S 2 1.3m model special is the yellow stars and stripes paint job, which resembles the one found on Mitchell’s full-size CubCrafters Carbon Cub.
  • As part of this collaboration, Horizon Hobby and McFarland made an introductory video breaking down all the plane’s specs, including the brand’s on-board SAFE technology. This makes this plane a perfect starting point for beginners wanting to get into R/C flying.
  • Out of the box, the model comes with three progressive flight modes: beginner, intermediate, and experienced. It also includes a PC version of the RealFlight Trainer simulator, allowing users to practice in a digital space. You can also upgrade the plane’s hardware and even install floats for water landings.
  • The model is available in both Bind-N-Fly for those who already own a Spektrum transmitter and a Ready-To-Fly option for first-time buyers. The BNF Basic version costs $299.99, and the RTF Basic costs $369.99. Both are available for purchase on horzionhobby.com.
