Hendrick Motorsports told Kelly Crandall of RACER Magazine on Monday that they have cut ties with Hooters because it has “Not been able to meet its business obligations to our organization.” Hooters had partnered with Chase Elliott since 2017, and has a long history in the sport.

- Speculation began running rampant over the Nashville weekend when Elliott’s No. 9 car and pit box had no Hooters logos. Hooters has been struggling recently, as USA Today reported in late June that the company closed more than 40 stores.
- Since Hooters first joined Chase Elliott in 2017, it has been a primary sponsor for roughly three or four races per season. Elliott got his first win with Hooters earlier this year at Texas. Hooters is most famous in NASCAR circles for being the primary sponsor of Alan Kulwicki’s 1992 Cup Series Championship.
- Fans had been speculating about Hooters throughout the Nashville weekend. Now, the word is official.
