Eric said the Roval delivered a tense and unpredictable cutoff race, one that reminded fans why it still belongs in the playoffs even if it isn’t always a highlight reel.
He felt tire wear played a huge role this year, crediting Goodyear for creating real strategy swings and rewarding teams like Joey Logano’s that made the right late calls.
He noted that the playoff intensity was off the charts, with constant chaos around the cutline. Eric pointed to Chastain and Hamlin’s late-race clash as one of the biggest moments, a perfect example of how desperation shaped every move on track.
He said Shane van Gisbergen’s continued dominance on road courses was impressive, but the real story was how much cleaner and more balanced the race felt compared to past Roval events. The early aggression gave way to strategic execution, and that mix kept things interesting all afternoon.
Eric’s Groovy Gauge landed at 70%, calling it a good, well-rounded race that didn’t quite hit classic status but still delivered plenty of drama and storylines heading into the Round of 8.
