What’s Happening?
Brad Keselowski says his recovery from a broken femur isn’t the only thing keeping him out of this week’s Cook Out Clash, as the former NASCAR Cup Series Champion revealed on social media he does not have a valid NASCAR driver’s license for the new year, saying he plans to resolve this issue this week.
NASCAR Forced to Reschedule Clash AGAIN
What’s Happening? With the lingering effects of winter storms in the Winston-Salem area, NASCAR has again pushed the start of its…
Much like NASCAR’s many attempts to get the 2026 preseason Cook Out Clash underway, RFK Racing co-owner Brad Keselowski has had quite the tumultuous offseason.
In December, the former NASCAR Cup Series Champion revealed to fans that he had broken his femur on a ski trip with his family.
The break resulted in Keselowski having surgery the week of December 19, and, though he plans to race in the Daytona 500, he will miss the preseason Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium.
With Keselowski out of the race, RFK is leaning on former Spire Motorsports driver Corey LaJoie, who will also drive a fourth entry for the team in the 500, to pilot Keselowski’s No. 6 at BGS.
Injured Brad Keselowski OUT For 2026 NASCAR Clash

However, as RFK knows all too well, plans have changed, with the Clash shifting from Sunday to Monday and now Wednesday as winter storms moved through the area this past weekend.
With all these changes pushing the race back multiple days, fans online were asking Keselowski if his status for the race had changed.
In response to one fan on X, Keselowski explained that his injury isn’t the only thing preventing him from racing, as he has yet to renew his NASCAR driver’s license for 2026, likely due in part to his injury.
Short answer- NO

Long answer- I don’t currently have a valid NASCAR driver’s license. Scheduled to take the different tests end of the week. Must pass to drive the car at DAYTONA or anywhere else.

While this may seem like a major issue for the No. 6 team, with the 500 less than two weeks away, Keselowski followed by saying that he plans to take the necessary tests at the end of the week.
Nonetheless, Keselowski’s plans haven’t kept fans and drivers from joking about his status, with O’Reilly Auto Parts Series regular Josh Bilicki asking if Keselowski needs a Road Course driver for the third week of the season at Circuit of the Americas.

Nonetheless, it seems that any speculation he won’t be ready for Daytona is off the board, with LaJoie, the team’s reserve driver, already set to drive the No. 99 for RFK that weekend, and Keselowski scheduled to take his licensing tests.
