What’s Happening?

All three NASCAR National Series groups up for the final “home” race of the 2026 season this weekend as each of the series takes on the ROVAL’s first triple header weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

  • This weekend, NASCAR heads to its most unique road course, the 2.28-mile ROVAL located inside the 1.5-mile Charlotte Motor Speedway. While this race may not behold the chaos it once had, it remains the series’ most unique road course race of the season.
  • While Charlotte Motor Speedway opened in 1960, the track, long known for its promotional oddities, introduced the ROVAL in 2018. While this race has been a playoff race for the Cup and Xfinity Series since, this year marks the first year all three National Series will race on the circuit with the addition of the Craftsman Truck Series.
  • Since the circuits’ introduction in 2018, no driver has shown dominance on the Charlotte ROVAL. Hendrick Motorsports’ Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott are tied for all-time wins with two each, while Joey Logano has finished in the top ten in all but one of the seven races at the ROVAL.

Top Storylines of the Weekend

  • This is the first race of the second round of the 2026 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series playoffs. Championship hopeful Chandler Smith was shockingly eliminated from the playoffs after round one, while there are some unlikely names with a shot at the title, Corey Heim has continued to dominate no matter what type of track the series races on.
  • This weekend, the Xfinity and Cup Series both face cuts for the next round of the playoffs. This is the first cutoff race for the NASCAR Xfinity Series, and shockingly, both Richard Childress Racing Chevrolets sit below the cutline. While this race could be a lock for Connor Zilisch, there is a scenario where Austin Hill, who is sneakily good on road courses, could make a run at the win.
  • On the Cup Series side of things, those drivers below the cutline include Ross Chastain, Austin Cindric, and both 23XI Racing drivers. While Bubba Wallace and Tyler Reddick are both solid on road courses, with the former improving in recent years, only one will be able to advance to the next round via a win.
