- Waters, a 30-year-old 18-time winner in Australian Supercars, currently races for Tickford Racing in their No. 6 Ford Mustang. These ties to Ford led to his NASCAR debut last summer with RFK Racing at Sonoma.
- That outing did not go well for Waters, who finished 35th after crashing on lap 35. But, prior to that race, Waters made his Craftsman Truck Series debut with ThorSport Racing at Martinsville. In two starts with Thorsport, Waters finished 30th at Martinsville and 19th at Kansas.
- This time around, Waters gets a chance to race a truck in his wheelhouse, the 1.530-mile Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Connecticut. This race will be the debut of the Truck Series at the historic seven-turn road course.
- Alongside his return to the Truck Series, Waters is in the rumor mill for a potential appearance alongside fellow supercars star Will Brown in the Jul. 6 Grant Park 165 on the Chicago Street Circuit. However, Brown is the only one of the two drivers confirmed for the race.
