What’s Happening?
The NASCAR Clash heads to Bowman Gray Stadium in 2025, and this is a refresher on the qualifying format for the Clash. The Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium will be on Feb. 1 and 2. On-track activity from Feb. 1 will be live on FS1, while Feb. 2 coverage will be live on FOX.
- This year’s format includes practice sessions, heat races, and last-chance qualifier races leading up to the main event. Starting on Feb. 1, the first event will be practice, with three practice groups entering three sessions, followed by the four heat races.
- From each practice group, every four drivers will be seeded into a correlating heat race. For example, the fastest driver enters heat race one, the third fastest is in heat race three, and the fifth fastest driver restarts the process and is entered in heat race one.
- Of the ten drivers in each of the four heat races, the top five finishers automatically qualify for the Feb. 2 Clash. The remaining five from each clash advance to the Last Chance Qualifier on Feb. 2. For the 75-lap LCQ, drivers start based on their finishing spot from their respective heat race. Notably, only green flag laps will count towards the 75-lap LCQ.
- From the LCQ, the top two finishers, along with the highest remaining 2024 points finisher, will be entered into the 23-car field for the Cook Out Clash. In 2025, the Clah moves from 150 green-flag laps to 200 green-flag laps, with the mid-race break happening at lap 100. But, as usual, the Clash must finish under green-flag conditions.
- Both chartered and open teams are eligible for the Clash. Thanks to the grassroots racing style of BGR, Rick Ware Racing is entering their No. 15 as an open car with BGS track champion Tim Brown behind the wheel.
