  • KANSAS WIN NOTES: Aric Almirola secured his second Xfinity Series victory of the season last weekend at Kansas Speedway. For the No. 20 team, it was their eighth win of the season and locks them into the Round of 8 in their pursuit of the Xfinity Series owner’s championship. The victory was the sixth of Almirola’s Xfinity Series career and marks the first time he has secured multiple wins in a season. On the day, he won stage one and led 16 laps, including the final four to claim the victory.
  • ALMIROLA AT TALLADEGA: Almirola owns wins at Talladega Superspeedway in the NASCAR Cup Series and the Xfinity Series. His Xfinity Series victory came in his most recent start at the track in May 2017. The Tampa, Florida native also claimed a Cup Series victory at Talladega in October 2018. Overall, Almirola has five top-five finishes and nine top-10s in Cup Series competition at the 2.66-mile track. In 2023, Almirola earned front-row starting spots in both Talladega Cup Series races, including the pole award last October.
  • SETH CHAVKA: As Joe Gibbs Racing continues to evaluate its overall Xfinity Series program, Almirola will work with crew chief Seth Chavka this weekend in Talladega. Chavka, who typically oversees JGR’s No. 19 team, has worked with eight different drivers, including Almirola, Josh Bilicki, Justin Bonsignore, Ty Gibbs, Joe Graf Jr., Taylor Gray, Brett Moffitt, and Ryan Truex. Chavka and Almirola previously worked together at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Phoenix Raceway in March. Last weekend’s win at Kansas Speedway was Chavka’s first victory as a crew chief.

In 76 combined starts at the 2.66-mile track, the organization has tallied 18 top-five finishes, 29 top-10s, five pole awards, and 394 laps led. Kyle Busch, Joey Logano, Mike McLaughlin, Elliott Sadler, and Tony Stewart have all driven JGR entries to victory lane at Talladega.

Aric Almirola, Driver of the No. 20 He Gets Us Toyota GR Supra

What is your strategy in Talladega now that the 20 car is locked into the next round of the playoffs?

“We definitely want to be in the mix and put ourselves in position to win if we can. There’s no real pressure, but there are still seven stage points available this week and next week in Charlotte. I want to be an asset to my teammates. Obviously, Chandler (Smith) and Sheldon (Creed) are both still in the playoffs with their teams, so that is very important to JGR as a whole. So yeah, there’s a lot to race for both to continue helping our playoffs and also to help my teammates.”
