What’s Happening?

Another day, another 2025 NASCAR schedule hint. On Thursday, Dover Motor Speedway asked fans to guess what the 2025 Dover race weekend would be while teasing that there is “less than a year to go.” When will Dover Motor Speedway’s 2025 race date be?

  • Dover Motor Speedway has traditionally held at least one race in late spring or early summer. Usually, the race is held in early June, sometimes in mid-late May.
  • However, in recent years, the race has moved to late April or early May. The weather has responded accordingly in some of these years, causing many to suggest that the race should be pushed back a few weeks.
  • Some other potential changes to the 2025 schedule could move Dover to later in the year than it was this year. While Dover will have a race in 2025, where could it be?

When Will Dover Be on the 2025 Schedule?

It’s time for us to try to answer Dover’s question to the fans. It might be easy to say that Dover would retain its springtime date for 2025, situated during the last weekend of April.

However, during the two years before this year, 2022 and 2023, Dover’s race was postponed from Sunday to Monday due to rain. Rain is common during springtime, and cooler temperatures sometimes accompany it in states like Deleware, which is further north than other tracks.

Some changes could be coming to the 2025 schedule. Jordan Bianchi reported following the New Hampshire race in June that races at Gateway and New Hampshire would move from the summer into the Playoffs in the fall while moving Homestead-Miami into the spring.

Should this happen, this opens up a spot for Dover to slot back into the summer. With Gateway leaving and Homestead coming back in the spring, maybe Homestead could take Dover’s springtime slot, and Dover could end up at Gateway’s slot in the first weekend of June or New Hampshire’s slot in late June.

This would give Dover a warmer weather date. However, would it actually reduce the chances of rain? According to weatherspark.com, April, May, and June have almost the same amount of rainfall, with June having slightly more days of rainfall during the month.

Either way, NASCAR would probably rather host a spring race in a Southern state like Florida instead of a state like Deleware. We will have to see if a Dover date swap is a part of the 2025 schedule.
