What’s Happening?

While most Cup Series chartered entries have full-time drivers or a schedule of multiple drivers pretty well wrapped up, Kaulig Racing’s No. 16 schedule is being built as the season progresses. With four different drivers already announced, we will track who is driving the No. 16 car at Kaulig Racing this year.

  • Kaulig Racing fielded the No. 16 car for A.J. Allmendinger in 2023, and the pairing won at the Charlotte Roval. However, Kaulig elected to move Allmendinger to the Xfinity Series, opening up the No. 16 Cup Series car as an “All-Star car”.
  • Kaulig Racing is relatively new to the Cup Series. They fielded a part-time entry and won a race with A.J. Allmendinger in 2021 before moving to full-time with two cars in 2022. They have been a full-time Cup Series team since.
  • Fans are not particularly excited about Kaulig Racing’s Cup Series lineup in 2024. However, this All-Star Car has some interesting faces.

Driver Schedule

The No. 16 Kaulig Racing Cup Series car will be at every Cup Series race this year. However, not every race has confirmed its driver as of yet, so, we will only list the races where we know who the driver is.

Confirmed Drivers

These are all of the drivers who will make up the Kaulig Racing schedule for 2024. Many are familiar to Kaulig Racing fans.

A.J. Allmendinger

A.J. Allmendinger is still under the Kaulig Racing umbrella, even if he is not full-time in the Cup Series. He will spend the 2023 season full-time in the Xfinity Series with the team, where he has won 2 regular-season Championships. He figures to be a factor in the Xfinity Series Championship this season.

Josh Williams

Josh Williams joins Kaulig Racing full-time in the Xfinity Series after spending 2023 at DGM. He also makes “Select” appearances in the Cup Series, but, like Allmendinger, his focus is primarily on the Xfinity schedule. Williams is one of the most interesting prospects in NASCAR as a journeyman driver getting an opportunity with a top Xfinity team.

Derek Kraus

Derek Kraus makes his Cup Series debut with Kaulig Racing this year. He spent 2023 racing part-time in the lower series including a sting with Kaulig. This will not be his first time in a Cup Series car, as he practiced and qualified for A.J. Allmendinger at Richmond in the summer of 2023.

Shane Van Gisbergen

SVG joins Kaulig Racing thanks to an alliance with Trackhouse. He is on a development contract which includes a full-time Xfinity Series season and select Cup Series starts. Some speculated if he may drive the no. 91 car for Trackhouse, but, he will race the 16 car for Kaulig.

Ty Dillon

Ty Dillon returns to the Cup Series for Kaulig Racing for select races this season. Dillon is currently competing full-time in the Craftsman Truck Series for Rackley W.A.R. While has has yet to win a Cup Series race, he has 3 Truck Series win and 1 Xfinity Series win to his credit.

This article will be updated as the season progresses.
