What’s Happening?

Brent Crews, one of the top prospects in Toyota’s fleet of NASCAR drivers, has launched a new NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series team, Brent Crews Motorsports. Alongside Crews, NASCAR prospects Jesse Love, Connor Zilisch, and Jack Baldwin will serve as the team’s “executive team.”

Editor’s Note: According to Jeff Gluck of The Athletic, Zilisch, Love, and Baldwin are not with the team, and the reference to them was a joke.

• Crews, who races part-time in the ARCA Menards Series for Joe Gibbs Racing and part-time in the Craftsman Truck Series for TRICON Garage, will drive the team’s new No. 70 entry at Watkins Glen on Aug. 8. According to the press release, these starts will be complementary to his starts with TRICON in their No. 1 Truck.
• The highly touted Toyota prospect sold his micro sprints to fund the team, which will temporarily run out of the Nitro Motorsports shop (a team that competes in the Trans AM and ARCA Series). There is no clear long-term plan for the team besides Crews being the primary driver, whether full-time or part-time. The team plans to “unveil more partners and team personnel in the coming weeks.”
• Perhaps most shocking of all is the inclusion of Love, Zilisch, and Baldwin. While Bladwin has no direct ties to an OEM, Zilisch and Love are rooted with Chevrolet, as both compete in the NASCAR Xfinity Series for the brand’s top two teams. While the release did not expand on their role as executives, it does state they will bring a “forward-thinking, driver perspective to its leadership.”
• Crews, who started 2025 by winning the Tulsa Shootout, is a four-time ARCA Menards Series winner (in 12 career starts) and is three races into a nine-race schedule with TRICON. While owners and drivers are not new to NASCAR, Crews’ age and experience make this a unique ownership venture in the sport.
