NASCAR fans using YouTubeTV could face missing crucial NASCAR Cup Series Playoff races, as the contract between the Live TV Streaming platform and NBCUniversal is set to expire Tuesday night.
YouTubeTV’s agreement with NBCUniversal expires at midnight tomorrow. Obviously early in the week and still time to reach an agreement, but that could affect YouTubeTV subscribers’ ability to watch the NASCAR Roval race on Sunday (on USA Network).

If the two sides fail to reach an agreement, this could result in channels under the NBCUniversal banner being unavailable to users. Of course, this lineup includes NBC and USA, which are set to air the final five NASCAR Cup Series Playoff races.
There was little warning for users about this potential issue prior to this past Sunday’s Round of 12 Playoff race at Kansas Speedway. During that race, YouTubeTV users were warned of the impending contract expiration via a banner scrolling across the top of their screen.
This banner read: “ATTENTION YOUTUBE TV CUSTOMERS: “YouTubeTV is at it again. You may lose your favorite sports and shows on September 30.” This was followed by a link to getyourchannels.com, a site seemingly owned by NBCUniversal, featuring links for users to change TV providers or talk about the impending contract expiration online.
Earlier this year, YouTube TV users faced the potential loss of channels like FS1 just before the start of the Craftsman Truck Series playoffs. Nonetheless, the two sides reached a temporary agreement shortly before their deadline, a scenario that could also occur in this instance.
If YouTube TV were to lose NBC channels, it would not affect practice and qualifying coverage, which will still air live on TruTV, which is not under the NBCUniversal banner. Furthermore, NASCAR fans can listen to live flag-to-flag coverage of the race via NASCAR’s radio broadcaster, MRN, via their website, NASCAR.com, or the NASCAR app.
