What’s Happening?

While the Truck Series gets the weekend off, the NASCAR Xfinity and Cup Series head to Iowa Speedway. Whether you are at the track or home, what does the forecast look like for this weekend in Newton, Iowa?

  • Iowa Speedway is one of the youngest major ovals in the United States, having opened in 2009. The track, set in the heart of dirt racing country, sits 51 minutes from Knoxville, Iowa’s legendary half-mile dirt track, Knoxville Raceway.
  • The Cup Series first raced at Iowa Speedway in 2024, making this the newest oval on the NASCAR schedule. However, the track itself has a long history with the NASCAR National Series, having hosted the Xfinity and Truck Series from 2009 to 2019, before welcoming the Xfinity Series back last season.
  • Iowa weather is just as unpredictable as any other state. Last weekend, in the Midwest at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, NASCAR experienced several storms.
