What’s Happening?

Matt Swiderski, nicknamed Squid, was announced as Daniel Suarez’s crew chief at Trackhouse Racing for the 2024 season on Monday. Swiderski joins after being the crew chief for Kaulig Racing and A.J. Allmendinger in 2023, and he replaces Travis Mack. Mack will take Swiderski’s spot at Kaulig Racing atop the #16 pit box.

  • Matt Swiderski has been with Kaulig Racing since it joined the Cup Series in 2021. He has two career wins with A.J. Allmendinger. 2024 will be Swiderski’s second full-time season in the Cup Series.
  • Suarez looks to rebound after a disappointing 2023. He failed to make the Playoffs, and he recorded only 3 top-5s and 10 top-10s. Teammate Ross Chastain won two races.
  • Fans are interested in this move since two crew chiefs are essentially swapping places. Some Kaulig Racing fans were curious about why Swiderski was leaving when Kaulig made their announcement.
