What’s Happening?
As NASCAR continues to reach out in attempt to gain a newer and younger fan base, they announced that their partnership with the ROBLOX universe will be extended with the inclusion of the Chicago Street Course now being available for play.
- This is the latest step of NASCAR reaching out towards younger audience in an attempt to gain new fans. With street racing being most popular among open-wheel race fans, NASCAR hopes that including the Chicago Street Course in this new venture will prove fruitful in attempting to gain new audiences.
- The numbers add up in NASCAR’s favor. According to NASCAR, ROBLOX has over 2 million players, 66% of which are under the age of 17. 75% of the players live outside the United States.
- Fans, as expected, are split in their reaction to the Chicago Street Course in general…and, predictably, the divide tends to be generational. Most younger fans, however, seem to be digging the game. In that sense, this project was and is a success.
The Main Characters
NASCAR and Chicago are to thank for this inclusion on ROBOX. It all started back during the pandemic when the whole world was shut down and NASCAR was hosting its Pro Invitational Series on iRacing. That was just the whisper of a dream. With interest sparked, negotiations began and, in 2023, NASCAR racing was brought to the streets of Chicago in real life. Now, you can race a version of this street course in ROBLOX.
