What’s Happening?

Nick Sanchez will drive AM Racing’s No. 25 car in 2026, filling one of the final open seats in NASCAR just in time to kick off the new season this weekend at Daytona.

  • Sanchez began the offseason likely to return to his former ride with Big Machine Racing; unfortunately, the young driver announced the two had parted ways in early December. Since then, BMR has found its full-time driver in eye surgeon turned driver Patrick Staropoli, while Sanchez has looked at his limited options for the new year.
  • AM Racing had an odd offseason as well. Much like Sanchez, the team came off a breakthrough year in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, but sold its operation to SPS Racing last fall. In a surprise twist, however, the team announced two weeks ago that it was back, and that the sale to SPS had not been finalized.
  • Prior to the return of AM Racing, rumors were that Sanchez was indeed bound for SPS on a full-time basis, though these rumors shifted to AM when the sale to SPS reversed course. Alongside rumors of Sanchez’s signing, AM also confirmed a second entry Monday, debuting the new No. 52 for part-time driver Daniel Dye to drive starting this weekend.
  • While this is a reset year for both Sanchez and AM, it can’t be overlooked that their success last year. After a tough 2024, AM turned the ship around, making the playoffs on points, without a win. On the other hand, Sanchez was one of three rookies from a stacked class to win a NASCAR Xfinity Series race.
